Class 5

This term, we are exploring the Tudors. They were a fascinating people who thought deeply about religion, explored the world, introduced many of the foods we eat today, and left legacies which are still hotly debated to this day!

We will look at the Reformation and explore how an individual would feel about such changes in the world – and how this legacy impacts us now, as a Church of England school: a Protestant school. We will identify trustworthy sources from the time and form our own opinions about the past – opinions which we may change in debate.

For Literacy, we will work through numerous books and integrate them into our own writing. We have much to learn this year, and all the Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar will be remembered and used as a tool for our writing. I walked down the slope can, with a little imagination, become: As the final rays of the Autumn Sun touched the skin of Barry, he sauntered into the meadow below; his party awaited him – and woodcake!

For Maths, a deep understanding of number facts and place value will be delved into first before we have a deep dive into calculation and geometry. We are really going to focus on these basic skills and apply them in as many different ways as we can think of!

We have much to learn!
