Class 1
We’ve had a wonderful start to the year, making new friends and settling into routines. This half term, we’re focusing on listening skills and social phrases, practised through play, stories, snack time and circle time.
Our key texts include Oi Frog! by Kes Gray and Super Milly and the Super School Day by Stephanie Clarkson, alongside a selection of nursery rhymes.
In Maths:
Year 1 will explore place value to 10 - counting, number lines, and finding 1 more/less.
Reception will focus on matching, sorting, comparing objects, and exploring size, mass, capacity and patterns.
In Science, we’re learning about the life cycle of an apple tree, identifying apple parts, visiting the Orchard, and pressing apples. We’ll also explore forces (pushing and pulling) and observe the weather.
In R.E., our theme is Being Special and Where Do We Belong?, building on our ‘All About Me’ boxes.
In Art, we’ll be colour mixing, inspired by the work of Kandinsky.
